Punt.

Let's not kid ourselves. This upcoming Bubble Boy speech is not to announce a new strategy. The speech is the strategy. A PR move, plain and simple. It's an attempt to claim center stage before the 110th Congress starts up. An attempt to show that all the commissions, and the new Democratic-majority Congress, have to come to him. That he is still The Decider.

Will it work? Whatever. For a short time, and with those reporters and commenters who don't need to be worked very hard, it will work.

In the end, it's yet another punt by the administration. Kick everything out a few more weeks, past the holidays. Regardless of how many will die in the meantime.

But, in the case of Obama, he may be walking around with a sartorial time bomb. Ask yourself, is there any other major public figure who dresses the way he does? Why, yes. It is Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who, unlike most of his predecessors, seems to have skipped through enough copies of "GQ" to find the jacket-and-no-tie look agreeable.

Uh. Wha? What the fuck?

And remember - this is from a "liberal" network. Yeah...right!
