Via Orcinus, this article about the Niger uranium forgeries.

Leave a trail of bread crumbs back to your sanity as you read it. You will definitely need help finding your way back.

You may also want to have some anti-nausea medicine handy. And a box of tissues in case of weeping.

I suppose that I should note that I did not read every word of the article. It was dense and the lies and the speculation about the lies made it a bit difficult to follow at times.

Specter's Uneasy Relationship With White House Is Revealed in a Letter to Cheney

Shorter Dick Cheney: I fuck. I do not get fucked. I do not give reach-arounds. You can bend over, or I can find another bitch to fuck.

Also, and paraphrasing Animal House: If you mention the Constitution again, I'll have your legs broken.

And another thing. When Dick Cheney hears the words "public servant," do you think he barks out a sarcastic laugh? Levels a blank, uncomprehending stare? How does he react?

Terrorism Allegations Detailed In Canada
The statement, which the lawyer said was a summary of the government's planned charges, indicated that the men had planned to demand the removal of Canada's 2,300 troops from Afghanistan and the release of all Muslim prisoners held in Afghanistan and Iraq. Politicians including Prime Minister Stephen Harper were to be killed if the demands were refused, according to the government allegations, Batasar told reporters outside the courthouse. Prosecutors did not comment on the statements.

Did they not also ask for a pony? How about Jenna Jameson's phone number? A slab of green cheese from the moon?

I say that this plot requires - no, demands! - that we tear up the remainder of our Constitution and use the tiny scraps to sign our loyalty oaths to the Bush Administration. It's the only way to guarantee our security.

Kurtz:

My favorite paragraph in Elisabeth Bumiller's swan song for her White House assignment:

"Karl Rove, the president's top political adviser, got so mad about an article that he told me he was putting my e-mail address in his spam filter."

Shoot, it's a good thing that Karl didn't pass any notes about Elisabeth during social studies. That would have just been mean.

Speaking of spineless reporters, I wonder if Kurtz will be reading and commenting on Boehlert's book. Scratch that - I wonder how Kurtz will justify not commenting on Boehlert's book.
